Myra Armstrong owns a million-dollar Giancarlo Vespri painting.
Barnville’s Museum of Art has a gala for the benefactors, and the public can view it.
Then, Leo Pritchard, the Museum’s curator, is murdered in his office while a painting behind his desk goes missing.
At the same time, Myra can’t find Vespri’s signature on Natura Morte even though she knows where Vesper hid it.
Sheriff Pick Lawson shows up sick with the flu, so he assigns his up-and-coming new Detective, Hansen Mulvaney, to the case.
Then Pick asks Thelma if she could help Hansen find his way around town.
What was thought to be an investigation to find Leo Pritchard’s murderer escalates into another murder, an art theft, and an art forgery ring with all types of people involved.
Thelma and Hansen try to piece together everything they find.
Will they get to Myra’s million-dollar painting first, or will it be sold to one of the Top Ten Most Wanted on the FBI’s List?
Or will someone else end up dead all because of a Giancarlo Vespri painting?
